Republic of Austria is a landlocked country in the middle of Central Europe. Borders Germany and the Czech Republic in the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. The capital is Vienna. Austria is famous for its classical music. This state of yore much larger and is part of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
Austria is a country with a parliamentary system of representative democracy comprising nine federal states, and became one of the two European countries to declare its neutrality. Austria is a member state of the UN (since 1955) and the European Union (since 1995). In 2006 Austria was clenched around the position as President of the EU during the first six months.


Origin Name

 In German name Österreich can be translated into "Middle Kingdom" word is derived from the Old High German language Ostarrîchi. This term may be derived from the translation of the Latin name of the area: Marchia orientalis, meaning "eastern border", considering that the country was indeed located at the eastern end of the Holy Roman Empire. Ostmark name also used to refer to the Third Reich since the Anschluss.Austrian territory which was originally known as the Kingdom Norikum led by one of the Celtic clan, and is a longtime ally of the Romans. This region is inhabited (and not conquered) by the Roman population in the reign of Augustus and made Norikum province in 16 BC. Austria then successively conquered by Huns, Lombards, Ostrogoths, Bavaria, and the Franks. Finally after 48 years ruled by Hungary (from the year 907 to 955), the core region of Austria was awarded to Leopold of Babenberg in 976. After becoming part of the Holy Roman Empire, Babenberg took over the government from the 10th century until the 13th century , After Prince Frederick II died in 1246 and did not have a successor, Rudolf I of the House of Habsburg allot land to his sons and began the reign of the House of Habsburg until the beginning of the 20th century.After the fall of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, formed the Austrian Empire. After ongoing rivalry with the Kingdom of Prussia to dominate the kingdoms of the Germans after the Napoleonic Wars, dwimonarki formed the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867. The empire was divided into many countries after the collapse of the Central Powers in World War I, one of which is the Republic of Austria as the beginning of the modern Austrian state.In 1918, Austria became a republic until 1934 when Engelbert Dollfuss realize the dictatorship. Austria was annexed by Germany under the Nazi regime in 1938. After the defeat of Germany padaPerang World War II, the Allies took over the administration of Austria. In 1955 Austria was released and became an independent republic on condition that Austria should be neutral. Nonetheless, in its development Austria increasingly inclined towards the Western powers.After the fall of communism in Eastern Europe in 1989, Austria became increasingly active in European affairs and in 1995 Austria joined the European Union and adopting the Euro (replaces Schilling Austria) became the currency of Austria in 1999.
